There are many differences in Lao-Tzu and the heads of totalitarian states. Lao-Tzu believes you should be simple in thoughts and actions, patient with friends and enemies, and compassionate toward yourself. He would not agree with a totalitarian government. "If you want to govern the people/ you must place yourself below them. / If you want to lead the people, / you must learn how to follow them, /" Lao-Tzu states. Also, Lao-Tzu states, "If the government is too intrusive, / people lose their spirit."
Heads of a totalitarian government believe they should exercise absolute and central control over everything, and the individual should belong to the state. This is definitely not Lao-Tzu's way of governing the people. The Master and totalitarian rulers are very different rulers.
Lao-Tzu would not agree with ideologies because they contain totalitarian elements and are developed by totalitarian movements...
