The Canterbury tales is a good way to get a grasp on life during the medieval times. It tells of the problems and complications of things in that time like: corruption of the church, feudalism, and the influence of money. The corruption of the church in the middle ages was huge. Priests and other holy figures would act less than holy. Like in the Canterbury tales when it was talking about the monk and it said that, “Hunting was his sport.” (111). Monks weren’t supposed to hunt, even though, the monk in the story loved to do it and did it all the time.
