The quote stated by Jose Marti, " Come from where it may, racism divides," explains the real truth of racism. During this semester, the one topic that really touched my heart was racism. Before this class I thought I knew all I needed to know about racism. I did not feel that there was racism in my community. I stereotyped racism as coming from individuals of the south during the times of slavery. I did not realize how much racism really affects every part of the world today.
Racism is largely due to our own thoughts and actions influenced by society. There are so many things as individuals we can do to help eliminate racism. It is important to become informed about the different forms of racism and where they exist in society. Once we become better informed about the issue, we can take the steps needed to change the stereotypes and prejudices in our everyday life...
