Jacob Riis had many opinions and bias in How the Other Half Lives. However, he also stated many facts and statistics. Some of the arguments that he made led to great things. Some arguments posed by Jacob Riis in How the Other Half Lives that brought about the most significant changes in the tenement district are child labor laws, welfare laws, and immigration laws.
Many times in How the Other Half Lives, Riis describes children that work every day instead of attending school. This leads to an uneducated nation and the abuse of children. Years later, because children could not stick up for themselves, child labor laws were made to prevent the abuse of children at jobs. Also, laws were passed that said children must attend school to get an education. Some of the arguments and complaints that Riis made in this book could have contributed to these laws.
