There are many things to consider as consumers, when we step into buying situations. One must think carefully, ask pertinent questions, and make rational decisions to avoid pitfalls along the way. Everyone is guilty of walking into a favorite store and seeing something that they “can’t live without”. People purchase impulsively on a daily basis, and the internet is one-hundred percent guilty of promoting impulse spending both on web sites such as E-bay or catalog web sites. This, also, has a great deal to do with the increase in fraud and identity theft that occurs. Economic Issues for Consumers states, “The best way to control impulse buying is to ask yourself five questions: Why am I buying this? Do I need it? Will I use it? Can I afford it? Will it keep me from buying something I want more later?” Be sure to think before buying. The repercussions of bad decisions, now and in the future, can be avoided.
