Composer/Arranger
The professional music career I picked out of the music industry was a composer/arranger.
These people create and arrange original music for films, television and radio. They may also be asked to write a piece for a band or artist in many different styles including jazz, classical or popular music.
When they are hired to make a piece of music they must know the purpose of the piece and if It should convey any emotions or feelings, before they can start to choose the tempo, rhythm and instruments to use.
When arranging a piece sometimes they would take an existing piece of music and adapt it for other instruments, styles or groups. They would maybe take a classical piece and arrange it for a band to be able to play. They would also transpose music to a different keys making it easier to sing etc.
A composer/arranger would use manuscript paper to record what he has done or with today's advance in technology could use a software sequencer and print a score, making things a lot easier.
These people have to be very committed and accurate when getting the job done, especially if they have a deadline for a film. If it is not done in time it could delay production schedules...
