The Coen Brothers Are Out Of Their Mind
Humiliation doesn’t describe what the Coen brothers have done to the old, educating, and wonderful story of the Odyssey. The Odyssey was a very great tale of a man named Ulysses who has a very long and troubling journey home after his great but tragic war at Troy.
One of the first things that came to my attention about the movie that differed so much from the Odyssey was Ulysses had six daughters that had ben told that their father was killed by a train. ...
Next, The Odyssey’s Ulysses was a great war hero that led his troops into battle bravely and also came out with a successful victory. ...
In Homer’s the Odyssey he tells of many suitors that are wrecking Ulysses’s home while he is away. ... Or lets say that they were trying to compare Pete and Delmar to Ulysses’s crew from the Odyssey. ... It seemed to me that the Coen brothers should have kept to their word at the very first of the film when they said “Based upon “The Odyssey” by Homer”. ...
Now some my think that John Goodmans character as the Cyclopes and the three women as the sirens were enough to make this a modern day version of Homers, The Odyssey.
