Mike Marlette Marlette 1 ENC 1101/916 Fred Dale 10-28-04 Essay #7 Let’s Draft Nader In America everyone is free to have their own opinion, and with so many controversial issues in the nation today people are usually reluctant to look at an issue from the opposite point of view. A topic that is being debated in today’s nation is whether or not presidential candidate Ralph Nader should be on the ballot in the election, and considered a legitimate candidate. Ralph Nader is a man who has views that he believes can make our country better. He has all the requirements to be in the race as stated by law, but is not running as a democrat or republican. Another issue that is currently open for discussion is the draft. With the war in Iraq not appearing to have an end in sight in the near future, reinstituting the draft has been a hot topic. If America requires more soldiers to keep the nation free, then the draft should be available for use by the government. Should women be included in the draft? No, women are equals, but when it comes to war, it would be better if men were those who fought. Ralph Nader is running for president. He is no different from George Bush or John Kerry; he just is not supported by one of the two main political parties.
