Halo: First Strike is a sequel to the Halo book series. This book puts more knowledge to the two previous books, Halo: The Fall of Reach and Halo: The Flood. In First Strike, Master Chief safely gets off Halo and destroys it, but he cannot find any other survivors. After a brief moment, they plan to confiscate three cyro-sleep chambers. When they are almost done on getting these items, they run into six covenant cruisers, one of which they thought was a Flagship. They confiscate the cyro-sleep chambers and detect some radio contact with a Pelican, also known as a drop-ship. They order these ships to pass the covenant cruisers then slingshot back using a moon's gravitational pull, in order to fight back against these cruisers. When they are on their way to the moon, they meet and have problems with the crew of the Pelican, as one of the Pelican crew members is known to have been transformed into a flood, but is currently converted back to normal. As they run scans on him, he is tested clear of any possible Flood transformations. They pack up all their gear and get ready to fight a deep battle with one millionth chance to win...
