Carrie is a girl who has dream. For her dream, she pays her every effort. (Though often disillusioned, she was still waiting for that halcyon day when she would be led forth among dreams become real. Ames had pointed out a farther step, but on and on beyond that, if accomplished, would lie others for her. It was forever to be pursuit of that radiance of delight which tents the distant hilltops of the world.). (chapter 47) Dream is the source of happiness and a sum of precious poverty. When Carrie accomplishes her one dream, a new dream will soon come into her mind. At first, she wants to live in the big city. Then she wants to be really involved in this city, and then… It is hard to imagine what Carrie would be if she has no dream. Maybe she would live in the country for her lifetime and never know the colorful world outside the country or waste her talents of performance and to do housework all day.
