The nurse that I chose to interview has been an R.N. Staff Nurse for a little over 21 years. Currently, she works in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Critical Care Unit (CCU) at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. She has also worked at UMass Medical in Worcester and Marlboro Hospital. She went to Laboure College and received her associates degree in nursing over the course of two years.
While attending Laboure College, she learned a few basic standards of practice. One standard of practice that she still follows is that her patients receive the highest level of care possible. Another standard of practice she learned strives to provide safe and accurate care, so the nurses she works with perform a triple-check system on the medications given to each patient in order to ensure that each dosage is correctly given to the appropriate patient.
