Introduction
What can effect a person's performance is a very interesting area of study. Everyday day, routine procedures are performed but under what conditions are these procedures performed without error? When aware of observation do we perform more successfully, as to please the viewer? Or on the other hand, do we "clam up," let our anxieties run wild, thus becoming awkward and create errors? One would naturally assume that the latter would be the case, that when aware of human observation, people become nervous and perform whatever task they are performing with more errors then if they were not being observed.
In a previous study, researchers William F. Vitulli and Mary E. Henderson looked at the effects that an audience and the size of the audience had on performing a simple mathematical question. Vitulli and Henderson used 117 participants in their study, 40 being men and 77 being women.
