He emphasized that America can and will be safe but criticized Bush for making hasty decisions especially with the issue of terrorism, war with Iraq, and the 9-11 attack. Kerry guaranteed the citizens that he will provide safety the way "Roosevelt' and other heroes did. Addressing the health care issue, Kerry stated that 5 million people have lost health insurance during Bush's presidency and accuses Bush for not considering health care as a primary issue of concern. He also stated that health care has become too expensive for the middle class and he will provide one that everyone can afford. Kerry also stated that the issue of immigration has threatened America greatly and that the middle class burden has gone up. He criticized Bush for changing his plan and stated that immigration has increases since the 9-11 attack. He said Bush broke his promise for the immigration reform.
Bush gave the most effective answers on the issue the flu vaccine shortage, loss of jobs overseas, and the safety and security of the US. He stated that the flu vaccine was contaminated so they stopped the produce from entering the US and relied on Canada for the vaccine..
