Big Fish
Some say the truth is always true. This is not always the case. Tim Burton's Big Fish (2003) takes us on a journey where William Bloom (Billy Crudup) attempts to find out whether the stories his dying father (Albert Finney) tells are actually fact. In order to do this he travels to find out what really happened and further explores them. The movie shows us that the truth is not always fact or fiction, but rather is in the eye of the beholder.
We must first take a look at what a truth really is. Merriam-Webster describes truth as "sincerity in action, character and utterance." Now we take a look at what a fact is. Merriam-Webster tells us that a fact is "something that has the quality of being actual," or "has actual existence." There is a difference between the two, and whether something is truly a fact or a truth depends on the point of view of the person telling it...
