From flappers to prohibition the 1920's brought a new enlightenment to the still conservative America. This decade marked a point in history when America broke away from the classical traditions and explored new terrain. Women in society became more relaxed and sexual with their fashion and actions. Speakeasies became popular after prohibition was passed. Al Capone became one leading man in this movement. Smuggling illegal alcohol into these clubs started a birth of mayhem and crime. These few events contrasted to the once strict rules. The success of these speakeasies was not only reliant on alcohol, but also live entertainment.
