Religious Reflections In Movies

Many movies attempt to explain what men cannot, that is the mysteries of the Bible. I have seen many movies that have religious themes or are altogether about the stories of the Bible. I am partial to cartoons, so my choice for reflection is DreamWorks' The Prince of Egypt, which is the story of Moses and the Israelite's Exodus from persecution. I thought this film was and excellent representation of the story told in the Bible and at the same time, it incorporated humor and gags that could attract the younger audience and teach them about the Bible in a manner that they could comprehend. For all of these reasons, and many more, The Prince of Egypt is my choice for this paper.
The movie is an animated adaptation of the first fourteen chapters of Exodus. It is the story of Moses' birth; his realization of what God has planned for him, and his leading of the exodus from Egypt. In my reading of this particular story in the Bible, a lot was left unclear. The wording that is used in my Bible was Old Testament language that was hard for me to read, enjoy, and comprehend because I was constantly re-reading passages to try to clarify what was going on. The animated cartoon adaptation helped me in understanding the story and really be able to form an opinion about what was going on in this time period...
