Many people have different opinions on what degree should governments encourage nationalistic feelings among their citizens. Nationalism means love for one's country. It can inspire all the people to unify in a country. However, nationalism also has a connotation that the devotion to one's country and culture is taken to the point where people want to exalt their country over others. In the end, resulting in countless negative aspects.
Firstly nationalism provokes imperialism. Which simply means a policy or practice of extending the power and dominion of a nation. Especially by direct territorial acquisitions or by gaining indirect control over the political or economic life of other areas. People become thirsty for more and more power. By not caring about anything else but one's country, and to get the whole nation in one's hands...
