Oppression
Oppression has long been a setback in societies all over world. America is no exception to the problem. Women and Various cultures in the U.S, particularly the African American population, are oppressed everyday. They continue to struggle with this unjust discrimination.
Karen Salmansohn discovered in her essay written in 1996, that according to a research study conducted by the glass ceiling commission in 1995, women still hold a mere five percent of top management positions. This indicates that ninety-five percent of the other management positions in American corporations are held by men. Salmansohn also discovered that in 1994, statistics reveal that in the fortune 1000 board, only half of the seventy new women who joined happened to be first-time members.
