Naturalistic Observation Paper
For my naturalistic observation paper I decided to observe Bidwell Park's famous 1-mile area. Recording took place between three-thirty and four o'clock in the afternoon on October 5th. A variety of interactions took place during my half an hour observation and I would like to discuss what I observed from my own point of view.
The first thing that caught my eye while I was sitting down was a family of four. They consisted of: a relatively large bodied mother, a medium set husband, an oddly proportioned teenage son, and a well-behaved toddler in a stroller. All three were finishing their walk in the public park and were packing up to leave. I noticed that the mother picked up the toddler, gave it some juice and placed it in the back of the vehicle in a child's car seat. Meanwhile the father packed up the stroller and packed it in their trunk before telling his wife that he loved her. The son seemed like he was just coming along for the adventure because he was not talking with his family a whole lot. It appeared to me that this was an average family spending time together by enjoying the beauty of the outdoors...
