Although people often react to stress in harmful ways, there are many positive ways to handle stress. In the following you will learn about some of the positive ways to handle stress verses the harmful ways.
Doing something physical relieves stress. If you're an outside person you could dig weeds or rake leaves. By doing one of the two activities listed above not only are you relieving your stress but you're also working your muscles, which leads me to working out. If digging weeds or raking leaves isn't your idea of fun then you could go jogging by yourself or maybe with a close friend. If you would like to be alone then taking a walk, or doing vigorous household chores such as scrubbing the floor, beating the rugs or pounding pillows might relieve your stress. Even many sports ease your tension.
Talking out problems relieves stress. While at college talk to a counselor, or call a friend if you would feel more comfortable talking to him or her about it...
