What Happened to Heart?
Ann and Nancy Wilson, the stars of the band Heart, brought the image of a female rock star into the eyes of young women of the world. Nancy Wilson exemplified this image as she was described as a female Jimi Hendrix (O'Dair 329). However, the band Heart was not begun by the Wilson sisters but by bassist Steve Fossen, along with friends Roger Fisher, and Mike Flicker, who at first called themselves "Army". They later changed their name to "White Heart", and by the beginning of the 1970s, they finally simplified their name to just "Heart". Ann Wilson was thirteen years old, and Nancy was nine when Steve Fossen first began this group.
Ann and Nancy were daughters of a marine captain, growing up in Taiwan and Southern California before settling down in Seattle, Washington.
