Purpose:
The purpose of this lab is to analyze the energy from certain foods, in order to better understand what foods are healthier for a person, or what a good energy source may be.
Materials:
For this lab, ten-food product labels, the two worksheets that were given to us in class, a table to write down all the information, and a pen are needed.
Procedure:
To begin this lab, six nutrition labels from food are to be collected. Then in lab groups put all the labels together and choose the best 10 labels to perform the lab. This information is then written down on a chart or table. The name of the food goes in the first column. The grams of the food per serving are in the second column. The amounts of calories in one serving are in the third column and the numbers of calories per gram are in the fourth column. To find the numbers of calories per gram, divide the number of calories per serving by the serving size. In the final column is listed how many calories are in 100 grams...
