Dear Dad,
Today was my birthday and I was awakened with a lovely breakfast in bed from my mum. My family sang happy birthday for me as I ate the delicious fresh herring. I knew that today probably wouldn't be too special as we are very busy this time of year, so I didn't mind much that after breakfast I was working.
I had to wait till nine o'clock for the rope maker Joost to deliver our order of fifty meter long tight rope, but I started straight away at the large navy blue sail, that has been my project for the past fortnight. (It was weird because Joost didn't even say happy birthday to me as if he had forgotten.) At about eleven o'clock I was interrupted when Benjamin, a close family friend and the best fisher in town, paid us a visit, as he has done ever since the death of my father at sea. Benjamin stayed for about an hour and when I realised that he too had forgotten my birthday I slipped away to finish my sail. Benjamin can be a bit forgetful sometimes.
I love the colour of blue that the sail is made of and it reminds me of a suite my father wore to the New Year festival last year.
Working on the sail really wears me out, because the cloth is really heavy...
