Burned Out and Bored
The parents of children in today's society move in a "fast forward" mode in their everyday lives. This in turn forces their children to move in the same way. Even though children have an extremely busy and active lifestyle, they still seem to complain of boredom. The following essay will discuss a summary of "Burned Out and Bored," and a response to why children are over stimulated, and how over stimulation leads to sleep deprivation.
Ronald Dahl discusses in the article "Burned Out and Bored," why children today complain of "nothing to do." Although there is an increased occasion for amusement, it is not enough. The more activities children are involved in, the more they seem to crave. This craving from the increased stimulation has been able to mask the fatigue experienced. Ronald Dahl shows in his research, that children constantly busy with multiple activities may experience disturbances in their sleep patterns that create fatigue.
In Ronald Dahl's findings, he shows that children have more stimulation than in prior history...
