A Lie of the Mind was a very well-organized play. Because I read the play before I actually went to see it, I knew what to expect, along with the story line. I think the author, Sam Shepard, did a great job portraying a dysfunctional, yet somewhat common, family. Additionally, the cast did an amazing job keeping my attention during the entire production. There was never a time where I was disinterested. While watching, I felt like the play was on a much higher level than college theater students. When I walked in, the first thing I looked at was the set, along with the scenery. I was not sure what to think; I thought the characters would use the entire stage for each scene rather than only using half. I did not know if having characters on stage if they were not acting would be distracting, but I barely noticed when they were there.
