Coming to America
When my father came from Vietnam to the United States. He had nothing start with but determination. He was determined that his children have a chance he did not have when he was growing up. My father had worked so hard in order to achivce his goals.
Not having much more than a fifth-grade, my father started out working in the tomato field in Fresno, Ca. He would work fifteen hours a day, seven days a week while my mother stayed at home with six children. My father always saved one of his paychecks each month for investment and cashed the other check for things his family needed, like clothes for children and food to feed us. Maybe once a while we would have ice cream.
My father managed to find a good career for himself working at a huge tomato plant in town where we lived. He started at the bottom of the list of the jobs the plants had available at that time...
