Conflict
A conflict is a struggle of some sort. In the novel Lord of the Flies, there are many conflicts evident. The most important I think though, is between Ralph and Jack, or Ralph vs. Jack. This conflict is external. Ralph, who is the leader, would like to handle the situation which is thrown at him, in an organized manner. However, Jack, realizes that since there are no adults on the island to tell him exactly what to do with the situation, he figures, that he can do what he pleases. He would rather hunt and kill pigs for food, than sit around and build huts, as Ralph is suggesting. Eventually, the group of kids on the island divide into two groups.
