One of the hot topics on the government's lips recently has been the legal status of cannabis in Britain. As you probably know, it has recently been downgraded to a C class drug, but I'm still not satisfied with its legal status. I am for legalizing cannabis, and the following speech includes facts and my personal opinion on cannabis and how we would benefit from its decriminalization.
Cannabis is a substance that comes from the marijuana plant that's grown around the world. It can be drunk, eaten or, most commonly, smoked. At the moment the only way to buy cannabis is through dealers on the black market. Some clinics provide cannabis on prescription as a painkiller for people suffering from painful conditions such as arthritis.
Scientists have proven that cannabis has great medical potential. It takes pain away temporarily, it releases stress and it helps people suffering from insomnia. In my opinion, it's ridiculous that a good, natural resource is illegal, especially a natural resource that can help so many people...
